TAILGATING

  • STADIUM: Click HERE for a map of the Stadium Tailgating area.  Tailgating is allowed in the parking lots and around the outside plaza area 10′ away from the building.  Propane grills are allowed.  No charcoal grills. Parking lots open at 5:30 am Saturday, Sunday and Monday. RV Parking is available in lot E3.

FOOD & DRINK POLICY

  • Water and Gatorade stations will be set up throughout the playing areas for athlete use.
  • Concessions are available for sale inside.
  • Athletes may bring individual snacks and water bottles into all facilities in their team bag/backpack.
  • Coaches may bring team water bottle carriers.  
  • No coolers or large drink containers.
  • No bulk food items (i.e. boxes of pizza, bags of sandwiches, etc.).
  • Tailgaiting and Team Tent areas outside all facilities are available.

CHAIR POLICY

  • No folding / lawn chairs are allowed into the Stadium or Phoenix Convention Center

Monday single-elimination brackets start at 8 am and various times throughout the day. Every attempt will be made to schedule the last Monday matches no later than 4 pm.

 

2019 FFC

FORMAT

  • Festival Format. All teams will play on all 3 days of the event.
  • All teams are guaranteed 7 matches, unless they’ve elected to not play all days of the event.
  • First two rounds are pool play, Monday is single-elimination bracket play.  Every attempt is made to schedule matches no later than 4 pm on Monday.
  • Everyone plays in the stadium at least one day (except for the u14 Invitational) and most will at least twice. We intend to have Day 1 playing schedules and locations available on AES by 9pm Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020.
  • Each team must provide 1 qualified Adult Coach as down referee, 2 lines, 2 scorekeepers and 1 electronic scorekeeper (for web broadcast) for the matches they are assigned to referee

SEEDING REQUEST

If you are a team outside the Arizona Region or haven’t played in any events where your results are available in AES, please fill out our SEEDING REQUEST FORM to help us properly seed your team into the event. Forms submitted by end of day Monday, February 10, 2020 will be considered. We intend to have Day 1 schedules available on AES by end of day Thursday, February 13.

TIE-BREAK PROCEDURES

ONSITE TEAM CHECK IN

Team Check In is in the AZSTA Grand Ballroom off the floor of State Farm Stadium.
  • Friday, Feb. 14: 5-8:30pm
  • Late check in Saturday, Feb. 15: 7am-1pm (must be at least an hour before you play or ref) at the Stadium only. So if team is not playing in the Stadium on Day 1, Coaches will need enough time to check-in, get credentials to team members and travel to off-site playing location.
  • Complete LATE CHECK-IN FORM to notify us is you will not check-in until Saturday.
At Team Check in you need to bring:
– A Medical Release Form (USAV form is ok) for all Players
– A copy of your AES roster with AAU numbers verified (use AAU Import quick link on AES)
– If AAU numbers are not showing verified, bring one of these three forms of verification:
*AAU membership card copy; or
*AAU Club Listing (generated from AAU website Club Director Account); or
*AAU Team roster (generated from AAU website Club Director Account).
 
Once checked in, you will receive a Team Bag with goodies and Team Credentials.
A Club Director or Team Parent can perform the Team Check-In for one or more teams as long as they have all the proper documentation.

The Festival Fiesta Classic is a licensed AAU event.  All participating clubs, athletes and non-athlete adults on a team roster must be AAU members.

PRACTICE TIME REQUEST

Click HERE to request Practice Time for Friday, Feb. 14 at State Farm Stadium. Practice start times are available beginning at 5pm through 8pm and are for 45 minutes. Practice balls and carts can be requested on the form. Check in 15 min prior to your scheduled time at the Tournament Desk.
 

AGE WAIVERS

A max of two Age Waivers are allowed per team. Even if your region has approved an age waiver, you still need to make a request from the tournament. Approved age waiver athletes have to be added to your event roster by the Tournament Director. For more details or to submit an online Age Waiver Request.
  • 12 Club: Born on or after September 1, 2007
  • 13 Club: Born on or after September 1, 2006
  • 14 Club & 13/14 Open: Born on or after September 1, 2005
  • 15 Club: Born on or after September 1, 2004
  • 16 Club & 15/16 Open: Born on or after September 1, 2003
  • 17/18 Club: Born on or after September 1, 2001 or born on or after September 1, 2000 AND is a high school student (12th grade or below) during some part of the current academic year.

PLAYING SITES

Matches will be played on 28 Sportcourts at the State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals, 28 Sportcourts at the Phoenix Convention Center, 6 wood courts at the Avondale American Sports Center, and 6 wood courts at the Salvation Army Kroc Center.

We need qualified officials to join us in Glendale for the 2019 Festival Fiesta Classic. You may register as an official for this event on advancedeventsystems.com. Please, read this information sheet carefully.

REGISTRATION

1. Go to the AES website at www.advancedeventsystems.com.
2. Establish and AES account (if you don’t already have one).
3.     Filter on “AAU” and “Arizona”
4. Select “2020 Festival Fiesta Classic” from the list.
5. Check “register.”
6. Scroll to the bottom and click “Submit.”

FFC CHECK-IN, MEETING & PIZZA PARTY

Join us for our annual pizza party on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 6:30 PM. The location is still to be determined. This is held in conjunction with Officials Check-In and the Mandatory Meeting. Failure to attend this meeting could result in removal from Saturday’s schedule. If you will not be able to arrive in time for the meeting, please inform Kevin Kennedy (940-390-7470, vballusa@yahoo.com) so that other check-in arrangements can be made.

FACILITIES

We plan to have 60 total courts: 28 at the University of Phoenix Stadium, 20 at the Phoenix Convention Center, 6 at Salvation Army Kroc Center, 6 at Avondale ASC and 4 at Independence High School. You must have access to transportation as you may not work at the Stadium every day.

CARPOOLING

If you plan to carpool with another referee during the tournament, please let me know ASAP.  If you don’t let me know within a week of the tournament, I can’t go back and make schedule changes.

PARKING

Officials will be issued a parking pass at our Friday night meeting that can be used for the Red North Preferred lot at the University of Phoenix Stadium. Limited parking passes will be available for those working at the Phoenix Convention Center. The other playing sites all have free parking.

CLOTHING

We plan to provide 2 long sleeve dri-fit shirts or similar apparel. You may wear your USAV uniform while officiating, however please DO NOT wear your USAV patch as this is an AAU licensed event.
